Welcome to the Edge AI Research Group!

The Edge AI Research Group at the University of Victoria studies the foundations of reliable and efficient intelligence at the network edge. We work on hierarchical inference, inference offloading, Age of Information, and learning-enabled decision systems.

Mission

Our goal is to make AI practical in real deployments where communication, compute, latency, and energy are all limited. We are interested in the mathematics and systems principles that allow device, edge, and cloud resources to collaborate effectively.

  • Hierarchical and cascade inference across heterogeneous models.
  • Inference offloading under delay, accuracy, and cost constraints.
  • Freshness-aware sensing and Age of Information in distributed systems.
  • Online learning, queueing, and adaptive decision-making for networked applications.
